Quartzite

Quartzite is a metamorphic rock made almost entirely of the mineral quartz. Over time, sand grains become compressed and stuck together to form sandstone. When sandstone gets buried long enough under rocks, it becomes harder and more compressed in to a durable rock. Due to the light color of sand, quartzite is usually white or light colored. Some quartzite even resembles marble.
